Mother’s Day Brunch: 7 Easy Yet Stunning Wig-Friendly Hairstyles

Whether you’re spending time with mom or you’re mom herself, here are some simple, yet gorgeous hairstyles and the wigs we recommend for them.
Side Braid
For this look, we recommend a lace front wig with a length of at least 20 inches and a side part or free part. While possible without a lace front, we wouldn’t recommend it for beginners- it may be difficult to braid the hair back in a way that doesn’t expose the hard front or the hair tracks. It’s much easier to get great results with a lacefront in this case. Some wigs we recommend for this look are Ashley, Megan, and Bianca which are all side part wigs. However, if you’d like to use a free part, we recommend Margaret or Myla.
Low Bun
A low messy bun is the perfect combination of elegant yet, not too formal. For this look we recommend any lace front wig that’s at least 14 inches or longer. Ideally, it would also have a slightly wavy texture as they’re easier to work into this style (straight synthetic hair can be slippery at times). Some wigs we suggest for this look are Erica, Maxine, Andrea, and Robin.
Half Up Half Down
This half up half down style comes with a twist- literally. It’s a simple way to conceal the hair tie and add some polish to a classic look. This is another style where we recommend a lace front wig as you’re pulling hair back from the hairline, potentially exposing the hair tracks on a hard front wig. However, you could use a hard front wig or a small lace wig if you pull the hair back with some slack (making sure that it’s not taut). Some lace front wigs we suggest for this look are Nyla, Mabel, and Marley, while some small lace wigs we recommend are Melina and Elsie.
Classic Claw Clip Half Up Half Down
Using a claw clip with a half up half down style is another classic look. Watch the video above for a simple yet elegant way to clip up long hair. Like the style before this, we recommend a lacefront wig, however you can still use a hard front wig or a small lace wig if you make sure to tie your hair back loosely (not taut or tight). Some hard front wigs we recommend for this style are Mya, Edith, and Amelie, or Milan and Aisling if you prefer a shorter look.
Pull Through Braid
For a pull-through braid, we recommend a long, voluminous wig to fully display the chunky braid look. Some wigs we recommend are Mabel, Morgan, Melody, and Inaya.
Combined Braid (Three Braids in One)
This look would work with any wig with a length of at least 24 inches. However, as with the looks above, we recommend avoiding pulling your hair back taut if using a hard front wig. Some wigs we recommend are Kimber and Arden which are both small lace wigs, Aspen which is a lace front wig, and Akane which is a hard front with bangs.
Braided ponytails
These braided pony tails are a cute style that can be used on wigs as short as a bob. When styling, take care not to expose the wig tracks by securing the ponytail toward the bottom of the separated hair section rather than at the top close to the hair part. Some wigs we recommend include Aisling, Avery, Mila, Mathilda, and Milan.
