Fairy

Fairies at the Ren Faire come in all shapes and sizes. They can be themed to a type of flora, magical ability, earth element, and more. The only constant for this costume is wings. Because this type of character is so flexible and playful, we recommend a brightly colored wig depending on the theme you choose. For example, a garden fairy might wear bright pink, purple, or green hair like our Kaitlyn, Jessica, Kimber, Kardashian, or Jade wigs to blend in with flowers or foliage, while a river fairy may wear blue hair like our Selena wig. However, you can also wear a natural hair color if you prefer a classic woodland fairy look. For woodland fairy wig suggestions, look below at the next costume on our list, “Maiden”.
Maiden

Maidens are a classic look at the Renaissance Faire. And with the resurgence of medieval fashion and popularity of corsets these days, putting together a maiden outfit should be a breeze. For this costume, we at Her Wig Closet suggest going with a natural hair color and recommend our Malani, Myla, Margaret, and Mabel wigs for a longer hair length, or our
Pirate

This costume is characterized by pirate hats, billowy clothing, leather belts, and a rambunctious attitude. To match this character’s fiery and free-wheeling spirit, we suggest long, wavy, red wigs like Aries, Rooney, and Amaya or Mabel and Margaret if you prefer a darker color.
Elf

Elves in popular culture emanate both great power and calm. For this reason our HerWigCloset suggestions include long wigs in a light or natural hair color to reflect both their ethereal nature and gravitas. Ines and Athena are great options for blonde wigs, Odella, Orla, and Olso for Silver wigs, and Ivana for strawberry blonde. If you prefer a darker color, we recommend Melody.
Goddess

The Goddess look takes the ethereal aesthetic of elves and multiples it a few times over. Long dresses and flowing hair paired with a halo, headchains, or veils can bring home the Goddess look. Our recommendations are: Odella or Orla for silver wigs, Irina, Ibbie, or Daenerys for blonde wigs, Idina for strawberry blonde, and Rohan for ginger. All of these ethereal looks are popular picks at Her Wig Closet.
Forest animal

It’s not uncommon to see someone with antlers or animal ears at the Ren Faire. Popular choices seem to be deer and foxes but we’ve seen everything from owls to dragons. The choice is up to you! To suit the forest animal aesthetic, we suggest brunette colored wigs like Millie, Gina and Jackie, or Danielle and Mila if you prefer a shorter hair length. Foxes are usually bright orange so we suggest our ginger colored Aisling and Robin wigs.
Forest Flora

Similar to nature-themed fairies, those who dress up as forest flora display a lightness and playfulness in their costumes. The most common flora we’ve noticed are toadstool mushrooms and dandelions, however you can choose whichever plant holds your fancy. If you’re going as a toadstool we recommend a white wig like Marlon and Odelia to blend in as the mushroom’s stalk. If you’re a different plant, we recommend our green Jade and Polaris wigs to evoke the plant’s stem. And finally, if you’re going as a flower, we suggest going with a brightly colored wig like our purple Vanessa and Yolanda wigs, pink Katy wig, or blonde Ibbie Wig.
