Beginner’s Guide To Putting On Your First Synthetic Wig Perfectly
1. Prep your hair
The initial step to putting on your first synthetic wig is prepping your own hair for the wig. If you’ve got really short, cropped hair, you can skip this step, but if you’ve got long hair, you do need to make some adjustments before you can wear your synthetic wig. Believe it or not, it’s easier than it seems! Spritz a few sprays on your hair to make it softer and more manageable. Afterwards, pull your hair into tight braids to create a flat bun. Secure it with bobby pins to make sure it’s not loose.
2. Put the wig on
The next step requires you to actually put the wig on to see how it fits and what changes needs to be done. In order to do this, you’ll need an enclosed wig cap to cover your hair before you put on the wig. Place the wig cap over your head, leaving your ears out and making sure to cover all your strands. Take the wig and put it on by matching its hairline to your own. For lace wigs, you can blend the front part with your own hair if you want, by leaving about half inch of your own hair out at the front. Tug the wig carefully on all sides, adjusting it as necessary. Her Wig Closet synthetic wigs come with adjustable back straps you can use for more comfortable fit.
3. Trim the lace off
At this point, you’ve probably noticed the lace around the hairline of your wig. Wigs vary in types (and so do their lace!) but for most synthetic variety, the lace covers a part of the front section. Lace wigs are made by all the hair strands tied by hands on the lace net, which not only gives a realistic hairline/scalp look, but also feels more breathable by allowing the air flow through easier than regular wig caps. The lace part actually has to be trimmed off according to your hairline shape to get the very realistic and natural front hairline. Just be careful not to cut the actual strands on the wig!
4. Adjust the parting
Sometimes synthetic wigs could have unnatural looking parting. Rest assured, a pair of tweezers can do the trick quite nicely to fix it! Usually the problem is too much hair at the parting area which creates narrow and perfectly straight parting line. Just tweeze the hair irregularly at the sides of the parting to make it a little bit wider and less straight, thus making it look more like real hair parting in the process.

5. Blend in the wig
Now that you’ve adjusted the wig based on your needs and preferences, it’s time to put it on again! And this time, your goal is to blend in the wig, making sure it won’t look out of place on your head. This can be easily done by doing these two things: a.) pulling your baby hair out to cover the part where you cut the lace and b.) using concealer and powder over your hairline. You can even use concealer on your wig parting to make it look even more seamless!
See, that wasn’t so hard! Not only are synthetic wigs much more affordable than other types of wigs, it’s also extremely easy to use too. Now that you know how to put on your first synthetic wig perfectly, you finally have everything you need to have an amazing time at your much- awaited event. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your new hairstyle!
